Description

The Standard Life Building, originally known as the Tower Building, was built in 1929 by New Orleans architect Claude Lindsley.  After the stock market crash plunged the country into the Great Depression, the building was constructed to  fulfill a demand for more office space in order to attract more businesses in the building city of Jackson, MS.  Upon completion, the Standard Life Building became the largest reinforced concrete building in the world and the tallest building in Jackson, MS at the time it was built.
As of December 2006, Watkins Partners, New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister and HRI Properties of New Orleans have formed partnership to restore the Standard Life Building.  Standing at 260 feet high, it reopened its doors in September 2010 consisting of 18 floors of 76 lavished flats, a state of the art business center, and over 2,600 sq. ft. of retail space.
